Currently Reading: The Art of Possibility - Transforming Professional and Personal Life.

I am always in search of a new book to read so imagine my surprise when I saw that the Sound Musician was starting what she calls a "Sound Summer Book Club" on Facebook. There's something so exciting about reading a book with a group of people, meeting and discussing it in earnest, and growing more as a person and musician because of it.

So I was definitely hooked when I learned that the first book they are reading is Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander's book "The Art of Possibility - Transforming Professional and Personal Life." Here's a description of what the book is all about:

Presenting twelve breakthrough practices for bringing creativity into all human endeavors, The Art of Possibility is the dynamic product of an extraordinary partnership. The Art of Possibility combines Benjamin Zander's experience as conductor of the Boston Philharmonic and his talent as a teacher and communicator with psychotherapist Rosamund Stone Zander's genius for designing innovative paradigms for personal and professional fulfillment. The authors' harmoniously interwoven perspectives provide a deep sense of the powerful role that the notion of possibility can play in every aspect of life. Through uplifting stories, parables, and personal anecdotes, the Zanders invite us to become passionate communicators, leaders, and performers whose lives radiate possibility into the world

As a teacher and musician I am really looking forward to diving into the idea of this "notion of possibility" and how it can help me "radiate possibility into the world." These ideas really resonate with my focus on self-reflection, honesty, and a positive attitude.

I think it will be a great book to read, with a lot of food for thought and inspiration - the perfect way to stop, reflect, and re-energize this summer before another Fall semester starts up! Be on the look out for some of my reflections and ideas about the book in the next few weeks.
